Taking its name from the founding date of Chatham University, (formerly the Pennsylvania College for Women), The 1869 Society is the College’s premier annual giving society that recognizes and honors those individuals who make unrestricted annual donations of $1,000 or more to Chatham.
1869 Society Membership Benefits:
- Member names are listed on the donor plaque located in the Campbell Memorial Chapel. (This plaque is updated yearly, to reflect The 1869 Society members during the past Annual Fund year).
- New members to The 1869 Society receive an 1869 Society brass luggage tag.
- Donors are invited to attend an exclusive 1869 Society Event, held during the year on the Chatham campus. Recent dinners have featured previews of newly renovated buildings such as the Art and Design Center and the Gate House, seating at the Pittsburgh Dansport Championship hosted in the Athletic & Fitness Center, Irish Folklore performances (coinciding with the Year of Ireland), student art exhibitions in the Woodland Art Gallery and musical performances by the instrumental group, Chatham Baroque.
- On occasion, 1869 Society members may also receive special invitations to attend unique campus lectures and performances.
