Howe-Childs Gate House

Reacquired by Chatham in 2000, the Howe-Childs Gate House offers an elegant and gracious entrance to the campus on Fifth Avenue. The oldest frame house in Pittsburgh and the oldest extant house from Fifth Avenue's "Millionaire’s Row," the Gate House is a registered Pittsburgh historic landmark and is an Official Project of Save America’s Treasures. Historic renovations and restorations of the building are complete, following an official dedication and ribbon cutting on June 5, 2003. It is the official visitor center for the College, headquarters for the Chatham University Arboretum and provides temporary housing for College guests.
