Memorial Gifts

Each year, Chatham University receives a number of memorial gifts. Making a memorial gift to the College is a thoughtful way to honor and remember an individual who was admired, loved and respected.

Typically, memorial gifts are unrestricted donations. These unrestricted contributions benefit the entire campus by providing student aid, support library operations, and maintain our historic buildings and grounds as well as our campus’ computer and lab technology.

Memorial gifts are deeply appreciated by the College and are acknowledged to the family of the individual memorialized with a special memorial card. Unrestricted memorial gifts of $10,000 or more are recognized on our Memorial Plaque in the Campbell Memorial Chapel.

Memorial Funds
Memorial funds may also be established in honor of a loved one or mentor and may be unrestricted or designated for a scholarship, program or other initiative that was of particular interest to the person being memorialized. Memorial funds may be either endowed or non-endowed.

Endowed Memorial Funds
A named endowed memorial fund may be established with a minimum amount of $25,000. The College will hold this fund in perpetuity and awards or distributions will be made from the fund earnings on an annual basis. More information about Chatham University’s endowment.

Non-Endowed Memorial Funds
A non-endowed memorial fund may be established in any amount and may be designated for a specific project or program. Awards or distributions will be made from both earnings and principal until the fund is spent down.
