Student Scholarships
Chatham University has endowed scholarships that provide financial support to students each year. Endowed scholarships have long played a vital role in the history of Chatham University, enabling students to pursue their educational goals regardless of their financial situation.
Chatham University has more than 80 endowed scholarships that provided nearly $810,000 in scholarship support to students during the 2006-2007 academic year.
In 2006-2007 95% of Chatham’s undergraduate student population benefited from student scholarships.
Twenty-three new endowed scholarships were established during Keep the Vision Splendid – The Campaign for Chatham College, increasing the endowment by nearly $9 million.
Scholarships provide educational opportunities to Chatham students that would otherwise not be available. The scholarship program at Chatham is critical to maintaining a strong and increasing student population.
Listed below are descriptions of just a few of the more than 80 endowed scholarships that provide important funding opportunities to Chatham students.
The Class of 1904 Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1964 as 60th anniversary gift to the College. Awarded to students demonstrating need as Chatham Grant funds.
Eden Hall Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students demonstrating need as Chatham Grant funds. Two scholarships awarded annually, recipients must be outstanding Science Students.
Elizabeth Jenkins Munn '31 Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1999 though the will of Elizabeth Jenkins Munn ’31. She attended Chatham University, graduated in 1931 and worked as a social worker in the Pittsburgh area. This scholarship is awarded to Chatham University students who demonstrate financial need.
Readers Digest Foundation Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded based on financial need and academic achievement.
Eberly Family Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 1987 and is awarded to students demonstrating need as Chatham Grant funds. This scholarship is for students from Fayette Count only and If no students can be identified in Fayette County, no distribution will be made and will be rolled back into the principle amount. The Foundation has requested that 80% be awarded to students who qualify and 20% must be returned to the principle to allow for continued growth. Recipients to be chosen by a committee. Committee is to be appointed by the president and chaired by the Dean of Enrollment Management.
